Conditions were just about perfect for most of the runners in this year’s Jersey marathon on Sunday, which once again passed within a few yards of Porthole Suites’ front door. Early competitors enjoyed light winds and bright skies, although the breeze picked up a little in the afternoon, and it stayed dry all day.
Our guests were treated to the sight of last year’s winner Aleksey Troshkin speeding past the bottom of Market Hill on his way to the promenade and the finish on the waterfront in a new course record of 3 hours 18 minutes and 12 seconds. The first woman home was Hilda Cheboi in 2 hours 48 minutes.
This annual event always draws good crowds and a good number of competitors from near and far and St Aubin is a perfect base for both runners and spectators. If a 26 mile run sounds just a little too strenuous for you, remember the walking and cycling opportunities in Jersey are just as wonderful!
