Hamptonne Cider Festival (La Faîs’sie d’Cidre)

apple juiceComing up on 18th and 19th of October is the annual cider festival at Hamptonne. One of the highlights of the autumn calendar and celebrating Jersey’s long history of cider production, La Faîs’sie d’Cidre gives visitors and locals a chance to see the ancient horse-powered apple crushing in progress as well as the traditional cider press. There will be a multitude of other apple-related and autumnal crafts on show. You’ll also be treated to live music and the opportunity to buy gifts and souvenirs in keeping with traditional Jersey.

There will be children’s games and activities, craft demonstrations and stalls, gorgeous Jersey wonders and, of course, plenty of cider! Expect to see archive photographs, local beekeepers and bakers and lots more throughout both days.

We enjoyed the festival last year and can thoroughly recommend spending severral hours there.

The event is free to Jersey Heritage members and Jersey Pass holders. Otherwise, it’s £7.90 for adults, £5.00 for children and £6.90 for pensioners. Parking for most is a short walk away although disabled visitors can park closer to the farm.

Hamptonne itself is well worth a visit at any time, with its well-preserved historic farm buildings. Get an insight into farming practices that go back centuries and share the yard and lawns with genuinely free-range chickens, see the pigs in their traditional pens and Jersey cows in the surounding meadows.

Hamptonne is at on La Rue de la Patente, in St. Lawrence. Postcode JE3 1HS.
