If sport is your thing – watching or taking part – there are few places with more going on than Jersey. And if your sport involves running or cycling then there’s a good chance you’ll be able to catch sight of the competitors as they pass through St Aubin’s village.
This Sunday sees the internationally renowned Jersey Triathlon and, as usual, St Aubin is on the 40km cycling route for the event, for both the Olympic distance and the “Jersey Sprint”.
Expect to see the first competitors speeding through the village on their way to St Brelade and St Ouen’s from around 11.20 – the races start at 11.00 with the swim at West Park. You can download a full cycling route map here.
Of course, you can also go to the start/finish area near West Park and watch the swimming and running phases as well as the “transitions”. Visit the official website to get an idea of timings.
As well as Sunday’s triathlon, Jersey also has marathons, half marathons and even an ultra marathon (48 miles) to add to regular cycling events, the Island Walk and many more informal walks, rides and runs. And we haven’t even mentioned sailing events and other water sports.
Really, if you’re at all interested in outdoor sports, at any time of year, Jersey is the place to be!
