What a Weekend!

If you were bored at the weekend you can’t have been in Jersey. There was so much to do in Jersey over the two days it would be impossible for anyone to get to every event, either as a participant or a spectator.

For example, thousands of people attended Groove de Leqc, an all-day music and fun festival held at Moulin De Leqc, in the northwest of the island on Saturday. The weather was fabulous too, which made it all the more enjoyable, and there was so much going on that even festival goers couldn’t see and hear everything. Groove de Lecq raises many thousands of pounds for charity each year and a lot of the local charities have stalls, too.

Oh, and the live music and entertainment were superb!

We missed the two-day Powerboat Championship races in St Aubin’s Bay, even though we could hear them clearly enough, but we understand the event was also a great success. It’s been a while since the races have visited Jersey but maybe they’ll be back next season.

On Sunday our attention was drawn to Marc’s walk. This is a charity walk to raise funds for teenage cancer charities. The 14 mile walk starting at St Catherine’s, on the east coast. A shorter walk started at the halfway point at Trinity Manor, and a shorter 3 mile version took in Waterworks Valley to the finish at Le Frigate. A friend who did the full 14 miles says the drizzle en route was refreshing!

Today’s sunshine is very welcome, too.

There were various other festivals and events throughout the island over the two days, But if you’re on your way to Jersey in the near future, don’t worry – you haven’t missed all the fun. Not least of the upcoming events is our world famous Battle of Flowers, this Thursday. The weather looks promising, too, which always helps.

There will be lots more do do and see through the rest of the summer and into the autumn. But, as always, you can still find plenty of peace and quiet in Jersey, at any time of year.
