Spring finally appears to be arriving! And what better than to celebrate it in the pretty harbour village of St Aubin?
The picture of St Aubin’s harbour you see here, I took after walking for a massive 49 seconds from The Porthole Suites: out of the door, down some hidden, pretty granite steps, past the Methodist church on the Bulwarks and down towards the Yacht Club.
A friend has just come in and speaks of the walk down the quiet, winding and pretty Rue de Haut to St Aubin’s, spotting snowdrops, daffodils, violets, celandines, bumble bees, emerging Jersey Royals (our famous, sweet-tasting potatoes) and more.
A couple of our guests have gone off exploring by car to the east to see Gorey Castle, and another couple by bicycle along the railway walk to La Corbière lighthouse and then onto the Five Mile’ beach (St Ouen’s Bay). One corporate guest has caught the bus into St Helier where he works (the number 15 goes every 15 minutes and takes 15 minutes to get to the bus station) and says he gets a much better view from the top deck than he ever does from the car…. and can go to after-work events and not worry about driving.
Wishing you all, wherever you are, a happy Monday – and do come and visit us soon!
